Languages:
The Main Languages are English and Swahili. The other three idigneous languages are; Bantu, Nilotic, and Central Sudaic.
Many of the People in Uganda speak both a main language and an indigeous language. The only reason the people of uganda started to learn and understand English is because of the people that came over to the United States and helped with their needs. Also becuase it was very commonly spoken by other countries around them.
Religion:
The Religion of Uganda has increasingly been Christianity. The sub-categories that are most commonly practiced is; Catholic and Protestant. The way that Ugandans got introduced to Christianity is by the Christains who came in and built schools and hospitals for them. Many of the Ugandans thought it would be respectful for all that the christians have done and converted to Christianity. Many still believe in their indegionous beliefs also. Also some of them use Witchcraft.
Customs: (Things you should know when visiting their Country):
Greetings--Same as America. (Shake with right hand)
Business Attire---Men: suit and collored shirt
Women: Suit, nothing revealing and no worn out looking shoes
Personal Space---There is no such thing as peronal space. Usually people talk very close together, but touching is only okay with the "same sex" as you.
Eye Contact---Women and Children look down when a man or boss is talking to them or directing them. Direct eye contact seems aggressive.
Gender Issues--- Men are still seen as the dominant ones in the household. The Women are the housewives. Polygamy is accepted throughout the country. Also women must cover their legs with clothing so the men do not look.
Gestures---Someone to come: Face Palm Downwards, make scratching motion with fingers

"You Know": Palm upwards, small flick downwards with fingers
Taboos---Walking over pots or dishes is seemed to be rude, Spending times in silence is a sign of being angry or disrespectful, Men do not wear shorts because it is a sign of being a "child"
Visiting---First you take of your shoes, then unannounced the host always brings food or beverage for the guest to have. The guests always takes the food/beverage and at least has some of it. Visitors recieve the best seat in the house. If the visitors are staying the night then the Host offers them to stay in their bed/house and the Host stays at a neighbors or sleeps in the living room. After the visit, the host accompanies the guest halfway back to their house or transportation.

They say that the most important meal of the day is lunch. They always wash their hands before the meal. They Eat outside when the weather is suitable. Men eat first and get a chair, while the children and women eat second and on mats. They eat from a common platter(one bowl/plate). Urban Ugandans eat from individual plates.
